DAY 1 - Youth Tiger Summit

Youth Tiger Summit, has started! From November 18-24, 2010. Delegates from 14 country has all arrived at Sedanka Health Hotel,
Vladivostok, Russia.


We had a nice bumpy flight form Jakarta-Incheon-Vladivostok for almost 12 hours. But all of it payed off, once we arrived here.

Weather here, isn't so bad; a bit snow here and there, and nice sunshine during the day.



We had a city tour, there was a short TV station Interview, and purchased some cute Matryoshka a traditional Russian wooden doll. And a "Get to know" session with other tiger ambassadors, top the the day up!


Too bad, that Mr. Pavel Fomenko -WWF Russia Species Expert had to leave us, because of an emergency situation (Tiger killing Investigation). From his brief story - before he left. You can feel that he's a very passionate person. Personally, I really liked when he told us this story; he took his child to see this tiger trail, after seeing the tiger footprint the boy asked whether he's protecting the tigers. He proudly says he is. And said to us all, "You won't understand until you have your own child".


With that in mind, how proud will we be, if someday we can say to our children, or even our great great grandchild.


"We helped saved the tigers, the king of this forest".


We had a short session to make a short presentation of our own country. And I can't describe how proud we are to be able to put lots of things in ours. We called it "Welcome to Paradise, Indonesia".


We (Indonesia) are very rich, in culture, language, and natural resource; yet we can't seem to use them wisely enough.


Ben Parker from Spiderman, once said, "With great power, comes great responsibility". - a great man he is. We should be more responsible on our actions to mother nature; in this case to the Tigers.


The decisions that will be made in the Tiger Summit - St. Petersburg will effect the life and death of this amazing species. Let's hope we (youth tiger ambassadors) could help the "elders" pull out good decisions.
